Evening River Bite

The day was windy and cold but warmed towards the afternoon so I headed out to a local lake to try it for the first time this season. Nothing was going on at the lake and the 7 other parties fishing there when I arrived were all gone within an hour and a half of my arrival. Even a completely vacant lake provided no action. Looking to salvage the evening it seemed that maybe running water would be a better option and possibly provide a little shelter from the wind. The river turned out to be a good decision with some healthy brown trout making the evening a delight. As the sun waned and the shadows fell across the water they became a little more active as well.
